RETURN TO SPIRA: Square Enix Announces Final Fantasy X Remake for 2026

Square Enix has revealed plans to release a Remake of Final Fantasy X in 2026, coinciding with the 25th Anniversary of its original release, according to sources such as the insider Im A Hero Too.
Although official confirmation is still pending, this project would follow other anticipated remakes like those of Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Final Fantasy Tactics.
Final Fantasy X, a milestone in the history of PlayStation 2, has sold over 21 million copies, consolidating itself as one of the most successful titles of the console.
Final Fantasy X, developed by Squaresoft (now Square Enix after merging with Enix in 2003), marked a before and after in the saga as the tenth installment and the first designed for PlayStation 2.
Initially released in 2001 and arriving in Europe in 2002, it positioned itself as one of the best-selling console video games in history, with over 10 million units distributed globally.
This title was not only the second best-selling in the franchise but was also chosen as the best video game of all time by readers of the Japanese magazine Famitsu.
