CHALLENGE IN THE DIGITAL AGE: Why Doesnt Capcom Remaster Monster Hunter Classics?

Challenge In The Digital Age Why Doesnt Capcom Remaster Monster Hunter Classics

In a recent interview with Arrekz Gaming, Ryozo Tsujimoto, producer of the Monster Hunter series, revealed the complexities of remastering old titles of the saga for modern consoles.

According to Tsujimoto, the main barriers lie in adapting the multiplayer systems, originally designed for the limited online capabilities of past generation consoles.

For example, games like Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Generations, which operated on the 3DS, would face such radical changes in a remastering that the original essence of the game could be lost.

Instead of revisiting the classics, Capcom continues its focus on innovating within the franchise, with the release of new titles such as Monster Hunter Wilds for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.

The Monster Hunter franchise, which began in 2004 with the release of its first game on PlayStation 2, has been a pioneering series in combining action role-playing elements with a rich fantasy theme.

Developed and published by Capcom, the series has expanded its presence across multiple platforms such as PCs, home consoles, handhelds, and even mobile devices.

Players immerse themselves in the role of hunters facing off against huge monsters on various missions, using the loot to craft and upgrade their gear.

Although the games are primarily cooperative, allowing up to four players, a solo experience can also be enjoyed, thus adapting to different styles of play and preferences.
